"Tear Stained Eye" by Son Volt is maybe my favorite goodbye song, ever. Take a moment with me, will you?
Ah, yes, now we are all verklempt, are we not? Well, let us cheer the eff up. Let's talk about ladies we love, in the spirit of continuing to rock our ladyness as the sun sets on Heartless Doll.
Heartless Doll readers, I love you guys. After I posted a list of reasons I'm sad about this year's Halloween (#12: there are no pumpkin patches in Northern California) one Rachel Bovee came to my rescue, writing to me to explain not only that there are pumpkin patches here in the San Fran area, but specifically where they are and what they're called. Needless to say, I spent my Sunday renting a City Car Share car, driving down to Half Moon Bay, and frolicking among the thousands and thousands of pumpkins I found there. Sure, it felt like summer out, and sure I went to the beach that same afternoon. But just seeing that much orange in a field... Well, it really made my fall. Thanks again, Rachel!
For all you other Heartless Dolls who heart Halloween -- and also happen to heart video games -- our sister site Joystick Division is running a jack-o-lantern contest for the best game-themed carving job. I know the two beautiful pumpkins I picked out yesterday (see above) our eventually destined to be scooped out and turned into Metroids. How about yours? Ooh, and does anybody have an amazing recipe for pumpkin pie?
The Heartless Dolls are Andrea, Kathleen, Kiala, Merritt, Nicki and a hifalutin array of notable guest contributors from around the web. We dig pop culture and ladythings.
