Don't let those puppy dog eyes fool you
Sigh.

Why is it that the one song by an R&B artist that sounds like one of my beloved fave Backstreet Boys tracks is berating to women?!

I haven't been a fan of Jason Derülo (see here) since he broke onto the scene, but I was eager to see if he could redeem himself when he debuted his latest single, "In My Head."

Melodically, the song is a winner. It makes you want to dance, it has a positive vibe and Derülo sounds decent. He really needs to get over the whole dropping-his-name-in-every-track thing soon, though. That's just a little desparate.

Lyrically, the song leaves much to be desired. Such a bummer, Jason, seriously.

The 20-year-old admitted the song was inspired by a one-night stand he had while on tour, which has got to make the girl he wrote it about feel mighty special.

In the track, he tells the object of his affection to just leave the club and go with him so he can "show her the ropes." He sings, "In my head, I see you all over me. In my head, you fulfill my fantasy."

And, obviously, since the girl is going to be all over him, there's no need for any type of foreplay, which he insists they skip.

The whole song is all about Derülo. It's hard to accept that a singer whose first single is all about how he's a cheater now wants a random girl in a club to please his every need. How about a song where he's actually respectful to women and sings about ways he can fulfill them non-sexually? Don't hold your breath.
