Ladies, let's review what we learned in this year: "When you're a woman, happiness is just one purchase away."

2009 was also the year in which we learned that we definitely wanted to become inappropriate feminist besties with Sarah Haskins, whether she likes it or not. I even asked her about it when I interviewed her this summer about comedy and feminism:
HD: How does it feel to be a feminist Internet hero?

SH: It feels good. A lot of people have responded to what I'm doing. It's nice.
And then, my favorite part, wherein she gets all inspirational and shit:

HD: Do you have any advice for aspiring young comics and comedy writers?

SH: That's a good question, somebody asked me that last night. My answer is that what made me happy, it's important to remember to do what makes you happy. If you're not doing something that's making you happy, and you're not having fun doing it, maybe take a step back a little bit. The whole reason to pursue a career that's so unstable and risky is that it adds something to your life that you don't normally, that is harder to get, but that you need. So make sure what you're doing is making you happy and stay busy for as long as you can. Thinking of projects and doing what matters to you and see how people react to it. I've found that it's important to find a couple groups of people who I really trusted, who I'm working with.
