Are there any John Waynes out there?

If, as the woman at the end of this trailer for the documentary An Emasculating Truth says, there are no more John Wayne's in this world, I'm not bothered. Give me a guy with a sense of self-deprecation and a subscription to Esquire over a macho-pants gunslinger any day. But many people, including the makers of this film, apparently find the prospect of men not dipping snuff, kicking kittens and grunting all the time absolutely terrifying.

Don't be fooled by the apparent good humor of the trailer--a PDF document associated with the film is crapping its Adobe pants over the loss of "manhood" as we know it. You know, like with men wearing embroidered clothing. Because, yeah, manly men have never done anything close to that.

An Emasculating Truth isn't about reclaiming manhood. It's about shaming femininity and really anything that doesn't fit into a very historically placed modern gender dichotomy. Yawn.

I find most times that anything that can't come up with an original title (ala "inconvenient truth") isn't really worth watching anyway.

I know how the guy in the trailer could be more manly.
