Chicks Aren't Funny: I'ma let you finish, but ...

Taylor Swift hosted Saturday Night Live this past weekend. If you can believe it, there were Kanye jokes. I know, I was as surprised as you are/were. But I don't care--as far as I can tell, the "I'ma let you finish" meme is absolutely never going to get old to me.

What did you guys think of Swift's performance? She seems to have pretty good comic timing. I love it when an otherwise marginalized-as-just-pretty-and-whatnot lady goes goofy.

Very impressed! Plus, her gown for that second song was gor.geous.

I am glad you raised this subject, because I was genuinely surprised by how good she was. Sweet, goofy and blessed with good comic timing. Her Shakira impersonation was spot-on. More surprising is that the SNL writers used her in nearly every sketch and had her playing such a wide range of characters. When Megan Fox hosted recently, they relegated her to a handful of sketches in which she portrayed either (1) herself or (2) a token hot girl. Maybe that says something about Megan Fox's acting abilities, but I suspected that SNL was reverting to the more sexist tone that the show adopted in the pre-Tina Fey era. Now, after the Taylor Swift episode, I'm reassured that's not the case.

Refreshing to see someone young in the industry not trashing herself up and making a fool of herself. The monologue was witty and kinda catchy.

I don't watch SNL anymore. Too obnoxious, too un-funny, and frankly just dull.

Thank you for sharing this as it gave me a smile!

Actually, I thought it was great. I can't stand her music (not because it's bad, but because they play it to levels of driving me to ia ia Cthulhu ftghan insanity around these parts) but she could make a good comedy actress if she worked on it.

Maybe that's just me.

The Shakira was great, but the constantly lip-biting, dead-eyed Kristen Stewart in the very clever Twilight parody was spot-on, too.
