Ads gone bad: Folgers takes a stand against wives and their crappy coffee

I like to watch this Funny or Die compilation of misogynist Folgers commercials from the 50's and pretend that the phrase "your coffee" really means "your vagina." Actually, that's not a massive interpretive leap. In fact, I think that is exactly what it means.

I don't recommend watching it a second time unless you want it to stop being funny (ish) and start being incredibly depressing. Blaming housewives for the quality of coffee they have no say in the manufacture of? Emphasizing that buying the right products will make for happy people, relationships? Teaching women that it's their job to make men happy? God forbid these dudes go out on their own and get a damned cup of coffee themselves.

Sometimes I worry about this when I make coffee for people. Then I realize that I like the way my own coffee (vagina) tastes (that ended up grosser than I meant it to) and if some dude doesn't like it he is welcome to go somewhere else to get his.
