Ads gone bad: Every kreep begins with k

Like the Jezebels, I am kompletely kreeped out by this Kay kommercial:

I am not sure that an ad for a necklace that's supposed to represent a hug is best illustrated by featuring a man who's clearly going to give his girlfriend the most lasting gift ever: the "gift" of ending her life in a remote cabin and ripping the necklace off her collarbone, to be used on his next lover/victim. Then again, maybe the ad isn't so bad after all. Instead of celebrating how wonderful lasting love can be, it illustrates the skeevy co-dependence of relationships in too deep. Clever trick, Kay. But we're not fooled. This is clearly a viral ad for Law and Order: SVU.

Most jewelry commercials annoy me. I think it's that whole push to equate love with jewelry. They're telling women that if a man loves them, he should be going in to debt to prove it with diamonds. It's also telling men that if they love her, then they must give her jewelry or else they're not treating her like she deserves to be treated. This and people going in to serious debt, because that's the way you want to start off a marriage, due to an expensive wedding really gripe me.

Oh my god. I thought the exact same thing when I saw this commercial. I thought it was for a horror movie up until the very end....

I hate EVERY Kay commercial, thanks for calling them out. No, a man does not have to buy favors from me. Every kiss begins with Kay? Ugh.

A permanent relationship with someone so braindead that she's afraid of thunder? That, my friends, is the true horror story.
