Chicks Aren't Funny: Happy birthday, Joan Rivers!

One of our true stand-up gems, Joan Rivers, turns 76 today. In celebration, here's a clip from her stint guest-hosting The Tonight Show back in '84. She was the first and only permanent guest host for Carson.
I hope this crowd work is real, 'cause she puts Dave, Conan and definitely Jay to shame.
I've talked about the lack of lady late-nighters before here on Chicks Aren't Funny, and I can't fathom why, in the musical chairs of late night that's been going on lately, there aren't more women--or, uh, one woman--hosting a show. Alas, we'll have to wait until November for the Wanda Sykes gig on Fox.
