The Midnight Sun won't be shining anytime soon

By Sharon SteelI feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on 'Midnight Sun,' so it is on hold indefinitely," Meyer wrote on her Web site, stepheniemeyer.com. However, she posted the incomplete draft on her own site, reasoning, "I'd rather my fans not read this version ... the writing is messy and flawed and full of mistakes. But how do I comment on this violation without driving more people to look for the illegal posting?"So, for now, it looks like the partial draft is the only version of the novel penned in Edward Cullen's perspective that we're going to get. But Meyer is still writing -- her publicist says she's shifted her focus onto a project that "isn't Twilight-related."
I only hope this note will stop all the confusion and online speculation so that the Twilight universe can once again become the happy escape it used to be.At the moment, we're a little to preoccupied with how terrible the film version of New Moon might turn out to be to feel happy or escape-y again. Chris Weitz (American Pie) has taken over the director's seat after Summit Entertainment and Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke parted ways. Plus, there's been a lot of fearful back and forth over the possibility of dropping Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black. (They thought he was too baby-faced to be a leading man.) We long for the days when everything revolved around Robert Pattinson's haircut.

To Stephanie Meyer I would like to say I have enjoyed reading each and everyone of your Twilight series of books.
I am not a reader but as I begain reading I could not lay the book down. I do hope that in the future you will complete and publish the Midnight Sun. I will be one of those people that will be true and honest and wait for the book to come out,and not read the website. I am looking foward to the next movie New Moon.
Your faithful Reader
