OMG You Made That?: Rockin' DIY Guitar Hero Cake

I love baking, mostly because I love licking cake batter off spatulas. I also love pretending I can play guitar while jamming to Guitar Hero or Rock Band. Now I can combine those two loves into guitar cake playing -- which will no doubt lead to more icing-covered fingers than music making. And I'm OK with that.
Let me explain. Any video game fan with a sweet tooth will tell you the gaming community has developed a strange obsession with dorkily themed cakes. You name the video game, and someone has made a cake out of it, often for a boyfriend's birthday -- then posted it to the internet. So it's no surprise that this awesome Guitar Hero cake recently surfaced, complete with perfect icing buttons and a little whammy bar. What makes it especially awesome though is that its creator has passed along her instructions so we can make our very own fake fake guitars.
I love that instruction No. 1 is "Freak out for about a month about how crazy you were to consider making the cake. Spend hours googling 'decorating cakes', 'cake fillings' and 'OMG AM I CRAZY'." Girl, I have so totally had those days.
